Dhaka, January 19: The Oxford-AstraZeneca-produced 2 million doses of corona vaccine will arrive in the country from India on Wednesday (January 20th) before it arrives commercially. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has written to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to waive all taxes on the vaccine given as a gift to Bangladesh.

It is learned that 2 million doses of corona vaccine will arrive in Bangladesh from India by a special flight on Wednesday. A letter signed by Touhid Imam, senior assistant secretary at the foreign ministry, has been sent to the NBR chairman to waive all taxes on the vaccine.

According to the letter, the Indian government will provide 2 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as a gift to the Bangladesh government. The vaccine consignment is expected to arrive in Dhaka on January 20 on a special Air India flight.

The issue is very important nationally and in the public interest. The letter also requested the government of India to take necessary steps to waive all taxes, duties and other duties on the shipment of 2 million dose tickers.

Earlier on Monday (January 17) at noon, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said at the 'Meet the Reporters' event organized by the Dhaka Reporters' Unity, "We hope the first batch of vaccines will arrive between January 25 and 26. The Indian government will give us some vaccines as gifts. I hope that too will come at any time."
