Dhaka, August 19: Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate AKM Mozammel Haque MP said that to implement the philosophy of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, politics in the name of communalism and religion should be banned.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting titled 'Bangabandhu's political philosophy versus politics in the name of religion' on the occasion of the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the seminar room of Ramnar Engineers Institution on Friday afternoon. Organized by the 1971 Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, under the chairmanship of the president of the organization, writer and journalist Shahriar Kabir and moderated by the associate general secretary of the organization, Prof. Dr. Nuzhat Chowdhury, Arma Dutta MP, educationist Shahidjaya Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury, Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, historian Prof. Muntasir Mamun, poets also spoke in the discussion meeting. Professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, reciter Md. Shawkat Ali and others.

Mozammel Haque also said that politics has been going on in the name of religion since the British period. Even during the Pakistan period we saw a class of people who did politics in the name of Islam. Bangabandhu banned politics in the name of religion. Because Bangabandhu knew that fanatics only abuse religion in politics. They are religious traders. The minister pointed out that Bangabandhu had taken an anti-riot stance whenever there were riots in the united India.

The minister said, the 1972 constitution contains the political philosophy of Bangabandhu. Bangabandhu's philosophy is the liberation of the masses. Jamaat-e-Islami has killed people in this country while doing politics in the name of religion. Their roots run deep. Effective steps must be taken by the state to uproot them.

Shahriar Kabir said in the president's speech, where General Zia made the freedom fighters beggars, the present government has appointed the freedom fighters to the highest seat of status. Freedom fighters have to play a leading role in this crisis of the country.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami and their allies, who committed genocide and war criminals of 1971, are carrying out multi-dimensional activities to disrupt the elections under the umbrella of BNP. The fire they unleashed across the country before and after the 2014 elections is setting the scene for a repeat of terrorism, murder, rape and looting. The forces of the supporters of the liberation war must be united to resist and resist them.
