Dhaka, June 7: The duration of the ongoing lockdown to prevent coronavirus (Covid-19) infection has been extended for another 10 days. A notification has been issued by the Cabinet Division extending the ban from midnight on Sunday (June 6) to midnight on June 16.

The notification said that considering the current situation of coronavirus infection (Covid-19), the time limit for imposing all previous restrictions has been extended from midnight on June 6 to midnight on June 16.

At the same time five conditions have been set.

The conditions are: -

All tourist destinations, resorts, community centers and recreation centers will be closed.

Such socio-political and religious rituals should be stopped.

Food shops and hotels-restaurants will be able to sell / deliver food (takeway / online) from 8 am to 10 pm and provide services to half the number of customers for spot services.

The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of high risk districts of Covid-19 will be able to take necessary steps as per the rules to prevent infection in their respective areas in consultation with the concerned technical committee.

All types of public transport, including inter-district, will be able to carry passengers half the number of seats. However, all concerned, including the passengers, must wear masks and follow the hygiene rules.

The lockdown began at 6 am on April 5 as coronavirus infections continued to grow at an alarming rate. That 'relaxed' lockdown was pretty much ineffective.

Later, on April 14, an eight-day strict lockdown started from 6 am. Later, the lockdown has been extended six times. The last time the ban was extended for another seven days was on May 30, when a notification was issued by the Cabinet Division. That period ended at midnight on Sunday.
