Dhaka, April 20: The duration of the ongoing lockdown to prevent coronavirus infection has been extended for another week till April 28 on the same terms.

A notification has been issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday (April 20) extending the lockdown for another week from next Thursday (April 22).

It said that in view of the current situation of coronavirus infection (Covid-19), the period of imposition of all previous restrictions, including international special flight operations and continuation of banking activities, was extended from midnight on April 21 to midnight on April 28 in continuation of the previous directives.

A severe lockdown of coronavirus started from 6 am on April 14 to prevent infection. That period ends tomorrow at midnight on Wednesday. The corona infection situation has not improved yet.

In this context, at its 31st meeting on Sunday (April 18), the National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 recommended imposing a "strict lockdown" for one more week to prevent infection. An inter-ministerial meeting was held on Monday at the initiative of the cabinet department to extend the lockdown. There it was decided to extend the lockdown for another week.

A notification was issued by the cabinet department on April 12 announcing a strict lockdown. The government has given 13 instructions to follow the lockdown. These guidelines will remain in effect for the new term.
