Lockdown extended till July 14

Dhaka, July 5: The lockdown has been extended for another seven days to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus infection. The Cabinet Division on Monday (July 5) issued an order extending the ban till July 14.

It said that considering the current situation of coronavirus (Covid-19) infection, the period of imposition of restrictions has been extended from midnight on July 7 till 11:59 pm on July 14 in continuation of all previous restrictions and activities.

The government imposed a seven-day strict ban on coronavirus infections from July 1 with 21 instructions.

Although 5 days have passed since the ban, the coronavirus situation has not improved, in fact, the numbers have swelled. But the ban was due to expire at midnight on Wednesday (July 7). The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has recommended extending the ban by one more week. In this context, the ban was extended for another week.

According to the latest data from the Department of Health on Monday (July 5), the virus has claimed the lives of 164 more people in 24 hours, the highest in a single day. At same 9,964 people tested positive for the deadly virus.

Government-private offices, motor vehicles, shopping malls, shops are closed except the offices and agencies providing emergency services. However, factories have been kept open. Though a ban on organizing public meetings have been imposed.

The army is on the ground with other law enforcement agencies to enforce the restrictions. People who break the rules and go out are being punished by mobile courts every day.
