Madrassa teacher Yahya arrested for child abuse

Dhaka, March 11: Police have arrested Yahya, a teacher who brutally tortured Yasin, 8, a student of Markazul Quran Islamic Academic Madrasa in Chittagong's Hathazari.

He was arrested on Wednesday (March 10th) afternoon from his home in Sarafvata Union, Rangunia Upazila, Chittagong.

Yasin's parents refused to sue over the torture. Later, the police filed a case against the teacher Yahya. He was arrested in that case.

Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ruhul Amin confirmed the arrest of the madrasa teacher.

He said, "After finding out about the torture of Yasin Farhad, a student of Hefaz department of Markazul Quran Academy, I went to the madrasa and rescued the child. The parents of the child were requested to file a case by noon on Wednesday (March 10). They refused to file a case. The state has a responsibility. As a result, the police have taken the initiative to file a case against the torturing madrassa teacher Hafez Yahya."

Hathazari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said Yahya, a child abuser, was arrested from Rangunia Police Station's Sarafvata and taken to Hathazari. Earlier, he was fired from the post of madrasa teacher, madrasa authorities said.

It may be mentioned that on Tuesday (March 9), Yahya, a teacher of the Hefaz department of the Madrasa, brutally tortured the child Yasin at the Markazul Quran Islamic Academic Madrasa in Hathazari Upazila for trying to go home with his parents. When the video of the torture spread through social media, it went viral.
