Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to attend Mujib Year celebrations in Dhaka

Dhaka, February 9: Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said that Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will visit Dhaka on the occasion of Mujib Year and Golden Jubilee of Independence. He made the remarks after talks with Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid in Dhaka on Tuesday (February 9). 

Momen said, 'We have agreed on many things. This includes a manpower agreement and a memorandum of understanding between the two countries' foreign service academies. Trade growth, connectivity, shipping lines and other cooperation issues were also discussed."

Stating that everyone in the Maldives, both local and foreign, will be vaccinated at the government's expense, he said, "We will send some nurses over there for this."

Abdullah Shahid thanked for the co-operation in the Covid-19 pandemic and said Bangladeshi workers were contributing to the Maldives.

He called for co-operation in registering unregistered Bangladeshis in the Maldives and bringing back those who want to return.

The Maldivian foreign minister arrived in Dhaka on Monday (February 8) on a four-day visit at the invitation of Foreign Minister Momen.
