Managing Director of World Bank is coming to Bangladesh

Dhaka, 25 February 2024 : World Bank Managing Director (Operations) Anna Baird is coming to Bangladesh for the first time.

He is scheduled to reach Dhaka on Saturday night, February 24, on a one-day visit. He will be accompanied by Martin Reiser, Vice President of the World Bank's South Asia Region.

This information was informed in the World Bank press release on Saturday.

Anna Baird will meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali, senior government officials, civil society and civil sector representatives.

In the press release, the organization mentioned that the World Bank is one of the development partners that Bangladesh has received support from after independence. The World Bank has since pledged $41 billion in development assistance to Bangladesh. Most of which are grants or subsidized loans.

Bangladesh currently has the largest development program under the International Development Association (IDA) under the World Bank Group.
