Dhaka, March 8: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic March 7 speech not only inspired the people, but also prepared them for guerilla warfare. It also brought victory and freedom in war. That was the most important thing.

She said these while addressing the chief guest at a function organized by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of the celebration of 'Historic 7 March-2024' at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday (March 7).

The Prime Minister said, "The father of the nation has given us freedom. We got freedom through long 24 years of struggle and bloody liberation war. The right to speak our mother tongue and our freedom is written in blood along the path of struggle."

She said that the father of the nation had decided since the language movement of 1948 that he could no longer be subjugated. Bengali nation should be given political, economic, social and cultural liberation. And from that thought, he inspired the people of this country step by step in the spirit of freedom. He took his every step very well planned. And part of that is March 7.

The Prime Minister also said that the father of the nation had repeatedly sought clarification of what he had said in his March 7 speech. Even the officers of the Pakistan Army who later wrote the book also wrote in their book - 'Whatever he said we were stunned, we could not take any action.'

The Prime Minister said, "Pakistanis are running out of time to search for an explanation. Bengalis also fell into battle. As Bangabandhu simultaneously prepared the nation for independence, he also showed wisdom in not being identified as a separatist and the people not immediately becoming targets of direct attack by the Pakistani forces."
