Market to remain closed on March 17

Dhaka, March 15: On the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association has decided to close shops and markets (shopping malls) across the country on March 17. The decision was taken on Sunday (March 14), said Md. Helal Uddin, president of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association.

"We have taken this decision as part of paying homage to Bangabandhu," he said. "According to our decision, all shops and shopping malls across the country will be closed on March 17. However, hotels, pharmacies and grocery stores will remain open."

Meanwhile, the Shop Owners Association has informed that it has been decided to close shops and markets on March 17 to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. All shop owners have also been requested to illuminate the markets if possible.

The meeting was attended by the president of the association Md. Helal Uddin, secretary general Md. Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan, FBCCI director Md. A. Razzak, Abu Motaleb, Hafeez Harun among others.
