Rahima Begum Abduction Maryam Mannan mastermind of sensational Rahima Begum abduction drama: PBI
Dhaka, February 14: Rahima Begum abduction play was staged under the leadership of Maryam Mannan, the leader of the quota reform movement, to trap the neighbors in a land dispute, not abduction. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has given such information in the investigation report of the alleged kidnapping case of Khulna's Rahima Begum, which is discussed nationwide.
On Monday (February 13) morning, the investigation report of this nationwide case has been submitted to the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court. PBI Khulna Superintendent of Police Syed Mushfiqur Rahman gave this information in a press briefing at the organization's office at 11:30 am.
In the press briefing, the Superintendent of Police said that the investigation did not find any evidence of the kidnapping of Rahima Begum. Rather, there is evidence of a kidnapping drama led by Maryam Mannan to frame the opponent in the land dispute. Originally Rahima Begum was not kidnapped, she voluntarily went into hiding. She was in self-isolation for 28 days. In these 28 days she changed different places. On the night of October 27 last year, she went to Dhaka after hiding from Maheshwar Pasha's house. After staying in Dhaka for some time, Maryam Mannan sent her to Bandarban with some clothes and medicine in a bag.
After staying there for some time, she went to the house of one Abdul Quddus of Boalmari Syed village in Faridpur district. On receiving the news, Rahima Begum was rescued from that house unharmed. She was not talking after she was rescued. When she was able to talk after many attempts, she stated that she had been abducted citing a dispute with her neighbors over a land issue. Later, when she was sent to the court for statement under Section 22, she gave similar false statement. As we have completed the investigation process of the case and the accused persons were found at the scene of the incident in Maheswarpasha. So after the investigation and in the opinion of the senior officials, it is confirmed that this abduction drama was organized under the leadership of Maryam Mannan to trap the neighbors only because of the land dispute.
He also said that Maryam Mannan made the matter 'talk of the country'. Besides, she pretended to pass the half-melted body of a woman aged 30 to 32 years as her mother in Mymensingh's Phulpur. The reason behind the play was that if she (the woman's body) had continued to be her mother, the neighbors would have been trapped and exterminated forever. But she couldn't think that the police would track down her mother.
