Dhaka, August 2: Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that the masterminds of the August 15 and 21 killings are still active. They do not want Bangladesh to develop, have peace and prosperity.

He said that the masterminds are ginding it hard to digest the forward trajectory of Bangladesh under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. "They want a bloody desert plagued by conflict. They do not want a Bangladesh to develop, have peace and prosperity," Quader said at a press conference held at his residence on Sunday morning.

Obaidul Quader said that the November 3 killings were done to deprive the Awami League and the nation of leadership. The assassinations of August 15, November 3 and August 21 are a continuation of the same conspiracy.

Calling for turning the August mourning into strength, the Awami League general secretary said, "Only by standing by the helpless and miserable people in the ongoing coronavirus crisis will proper respect be shown to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and his soul will find peace."

"The cruelest political assassination in history took place on 15 August. Noting that there is no precedent in the world for such political killings in terms of cruelty," the general secretary of the Awami League said, "In other killings in the world, innocent children have been spared, helpless women have not been targeted, pregnant women have not been targeted."

He said that not only Bangabandhu but also his wife Bangamata Begum Mujib and other members of the family were brutally killed on that day.

Obaidul Quader said the conspirators did not stop the brutal massacre on August 15, they later killed four national leaders inside the jail on November 3. The grenade attack on August 21 was a continuation of the same conspiracy.
