Mayor Atiq's daughter appointed as Dhaka North's 'Chief Heat Officer'

Dhaka, May 5: Bushra Afreen has been appointed as 'Chief Heat Officer' by US-based international organization Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation. She got this appointment by fulfilling all the conditions of the organization.

The appointment was announced in a casual ceremony at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Hall of the University organized by Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka University Disaster Science and Climate Resilience on Wednesday. Earlier, the company has appointed seven more women as Chief Heat Officers from other countries of the world.

The Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation is an American-based organization. The organization has been working since 2021 to control the temperature of the earth. Recently, this organization appointed Bushra Afreen as 'Chief Heat Officer' in order to control the temperature of Asia continent and Bangladesh. From now on, she will work to bring the temperature to a tolerable level in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area. Bushra Afreen is the daughter of Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam.

Bushra studied up to secondary level in a school in Dhaka and completed higher secondary education in Canada. Later she did her higher studies in Global Development Studies at Queen's University. She also studied at the Institute of Local Government in Ghana. During this time she worked on a women's development project in Ghana's Bolgatanga.

Later, Bushra joined Bangladesh's largest NGO Shakti Foundation as a managing executive. In addition, as a policy consultant to the Bangladesh animal rights organization Sanctuary, she worked with the Dhaka North City Corporation to develop a policy for the humane treatment and welfare of stray animals. DNCC hopes that she will be able to bring the temperature to a tolerable level in the city by now working efficiently as Chief Heat Officer.

Currently, there are Chief Heat Officers in Miami, Los Angeles, Santiago, Chile, Santiago, Sierra Leone, Athens, Greece, and Melbourne, Australia. Bushra Afreen, who is the first Chief Heat Officer of an Asian city, got the responsibility of North City Corporation of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
