Road Accident Microbus mows down traffic cop in Chittagong's Satkania
Dhaka, August 6: A policeman was killed and another injured after being hit by a speeding microbus in Chittagong's Satkania upazila. The incident took place in front of Dohazari Highway Police Station around 10:30 am on Thursday (August 5).
The deceased cop has been identified as Rabbi Bhuiyan (28), and the injured policeman as Arafat Hossain.
Rabbi Bhuiyan's ancestral home is in Malitha Charsindu area of Palash upazila in Narsingdi. His father's name is Mozammel Haque. Rabbi was working as a constable of Dohazari Highway Police Station.
According to the police, regular checkposts were operating in front of Dohazari Highway Police Station. At around 10:30 am, the police signaled a microbus approaching from Cox's Bazar to stop. The driver instead sped and also ran over two policemen, one of whom died on the spot and the other was rushed to a hospital for treatment..
The driver fled leaving the car in front of the check post.
Dohazari Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rob said, "The microbus has been seized."
The senior police said legal action is being taken in this incident.
