Dhaka, 13 August 2023 : Law Minister Anisul Haque has commented that Ziaur Rahman betrayed the Bengali nation.

He said this while joining the video conference from Kolkata at the funeral meeting organized by Kayempur Union Awami League of the upazila at Kasba Government Polytechnic School and College ground in Brahmanbaria on Saturday afternoon.

The Law Minister said that after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Bangabandhu understood that the freedom of the Bengali nation would not come with this independence.

"So, he struggled for Bengali rights and endured imprisonment and torture most of the time in Pakistan," he said.

"Never compromised with Pakistanis. On his call, we made this country independent through armed struggle. Pakistanis wanted to kill Bangabandhu in Pakistan but could not do it under the pressure of the world," he said.

"After independence, on August 15, 1975, in a domestic and international conspiracy, the power-hungry army members killed him and his family and wanted to erase him from the pages of history," the minister said.

The Minister said Rahman and his team pushed Bangladesh into darkness.

"To make the country a mini Pakistan again, Ziaur Rahman seized power illegally and made a notorious Razakar like Shah Azizur Rahman the prime minister and rehabilitated the murderers of Bangabandhu and the four national leaders," he said.

The minister said he betrayed the nation by giving them jobs and politics.

"From there, Bangabandhu's daughter pulled the country and put it on the seat of dignity," he said.
