Mitu Murder Case Mitu murder: Her 13-yo son describes his mother's killing
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 5: Former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akhter's wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu's son Akhtar Mahmud Mahir (13) has given a thrilling account of his mother's murder.
Mahir described the incident to PBI Inspector Abu Zafar Mohammad Omar Farooq, the investigating officer in Mitu murder case, from 10 am to 1 pm on Monday (July 4).
The Babul-Mitu couple's son was questioned at the Magura District Sadar Social Services Department office. Tabassum Tapur, a seven-year-old daughter of the Babul-Mitu couple, was also present at the time.
The investigating officer of the case said, "Mitu's son Mahir was with his mother on the day of the incident. Mitu was shot and stabbed by miscreants at the GEC intersection in Chittagong city while trying to pick him up in a school bus. The boy is the only eyewitness in this case. For the first time, I was able to meet Mitu's son and daughter under the direction of the court."
"Mahir has given a lot of important information, which will be important to take forward the investigation of the case. He described how the miscreants brutally killed his mother in front of him. However, as Mitu's daughter is very young, she was not asked anything," Omar Farooq added.
On the morning of June 5, 2016, Mitu, the wife of former Superintendent of Police Babul Akter, was killed at the GEC junction in the city. Babul Akhter filed a murder case with the Panchlaish police station.
The city detective police first investigated the case. The case was later investigated by the PBI. According to the PBI investigation, it was Babul Akhtar who killed his wife with his trusted sources. Later, Babul Akhter was arrested in the case. He is currently in jail.
