Mobile phone service may be disrupted for two days

Bangladesh Live News | @banglalivenews | 31 Mar 2021, 10:52 am

Dhaka, March 31: Mobile phone services can be disrupted for two days for 8 hours on the night of April 1 and 8. Telecommunications regulator BTRC said this could be due to new wave formats and changes.

The company sent a notification to the media on Monday (March 29) expressing its regret to the mobile subscribers.

This information was given in a circular signed by Dr. Sohail Rana, Director, Spectrum Management, BTRC.

It said mobile phone service could be disrupted from 11pm on April 1 to 7am on April 2 due to the 1800 MHz wave format in the first phase and from 11pm to 7am on April 8 for the new 2100 MHz wave format in the second phase.

New waves have been allotted to mobile phone operators Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink through a recent auction. Teletalk did not allocate any new waves. Operators need to change their waves to serve the waves.

The operators will provide services on the new wave from April 9.
