Dhaka, May 11: The whole world has been fighting the coronavirus pandemic for almost a year and a half. Although some countries have dealt with it efficiently, most are in fragile conditions. The situation in Bangladesh is not in a very favorable position and the country has to overcome a lot of obstacles to keep the medical system active.

The Ministry of Health has been able to implement only 20.99 percent of the allocation made for the health sector in the Annual Development Program (ADP) in the current fiscal year 2020-21 due to the Corona pandemic.

Despite such inefficiency of the ministry in emergencies, emphasis is being laid in this sector in the ADP for the next 2021-22 fiscal year to protect the health of the people of the country. This time, an allocation of Tk 17,301.97 crore has been proposed for the health sector, which is 7.71 percent of the ADP. The fifth most important sector is health. Along with this, education has also got importance this time.

According to Planning Commission sources, a total of 15 sectors have been included in the ADP for the next financial year. Among them, like the last few years, the transport and communication sector is getting the highest importance in the ADP. In the fiscal year 2021-22, an allocation of Tk 61,631.41 crore has been proposed for this sector, which is 27.47 percent of the total ADP.

In terms of importance, the power and energy sector is in the second place this time. It has been proposed to allocate Tk 45,867.84 crore in this sector, the size of which is 20.45 percent.

In the third place housing and community amenities (Housing and Community Amenities) sector allocation of Tk 23,821.16 crore, which is 10.62 percent of the total ADP.

The education sector is in the fourth place. The allocation in this sector is Tk 23,323.85 crore, the size of which is 10.40 percent.

In the sixth place is the local government and rural development sector. It has been proposed to allocate Tk 14,274.38 crore in this sector, which is 6.36 percent of the total ADP.
