Dhaka, March 6: Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, said there were some strategic mistakes in controlling the Culex mosquito and appropriate steps have been taken to change the strategy.

He claimed that the mosquitoes would come under control within the next two weeks. Tapas said this in response to the question of the journalists in Demra of the capital in the afternoon.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh added, "The mosquito infestation has now started to subside in the activities we have undertaken. We have made a little mistake in our strategy. We should have taken action on Culex from November."

The mayor also said that the people of the capital will be given a chance to enjoy the benefits of the canal by freeing it from WASA.

Responding to a question from reporters, the DSCC mayor said, "The advice given to us by the experts is that they think - since the dengue outbreak is till December, we have to take action against dengue by December. We made a mistake. We should have started taking action on Culex mosquitoes in November. Because the water depth has started to decrease with the onset of winter in November, the water has become polluted and it has become a breeding ground for Culex mosquitoes."

He added, "In the initiatives we have taken, the mosquito infestation has already started to decrease. It is said that activities against dengue will be started from April this year and against Culex mosquitoes from November this year."
