Dhaka, November 2: The much-discussed and anticipated COP26 climate conference of the United Nations has begun. Heads of government from different countries have already started arriving in Glasgow, Scotland to take part in it. The conference is expected to lead to a united declaration by world leaders on the risks of climate change.

In his opening remarks at the conference, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the developed world has a special responsibility to address the risks of climate change. The developed world must come forward to inspire others to use green technology.

He said the anger and intolerance of the world could not be stopped unless concrete steps were taken on climate change from the COP26 conference.

Apart from the British Prime Minister, US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present at the conference. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has also gone to Glasgow to attend the COP26 conference. Besides taking part in the inaugural session, the Prime Minister will also address the main function of COP26.

However, influential leaders such as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are not at the conference. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not attend because of "lack of adequate security."
