Rape | Murder Murder after rape of child; CCTV footage captured the scene of the body being dumped in the dustbin
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 3 April 2024: Seven-year-old Pathakali Sukhi went out to collect paper with her mother Bilkis Begum like every day on Sunday night. Bilkis left her daughter at the gate of the General Hospital around 12:00 a.m. and went to the north gate of Andarqilla Shahi Jame Masjid. But after about an hour and a half she returned and did not find Sukhi.
After about 24 hours Pathkali Sukhi's body was found in the city corporation's dustbin. The scene of child Sukhi alias Nasreen being thrown into the dustbin after being killed has been captured in a CCTV footage of Phalmondi area of Kotwali police station in the city.
After analyzing the footage, it can be seen that a person put Sukhi's body in a sack and covered it with baskets and loaded it in a van. She was raped before being murdered. The body was then taken to the Phalmondi area. Later, the bag was dumped in the dustbin of the city corporation. Investigating the incident, the police arrested a man named Mir Hossain (34) from Boubazar area of Baklia on Tuesday morning. The arrested youth is an acquaintance of the victim's family and worked as scrap goods collector.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Noble Chakma of City Police said, "Sukhir's mother Bilkis Begum collects paper. She left her daughter at Andarkilla Shahi Jame Masjid to get some help that night. In the meantime, Sukhi met Mir Hossain, a junk seller. He gave Sukhi chips and chocolates. Mir Hossain then tempted her to go to Tigerpass area. At one point, he took her in a rickshaw from Andarkilla and took her down the hill of Tigerpass area and raped her. Later, she choked to death. After that, he stuffed the body in a jute sack and dumped it in the dustbin."
