NCC Polls NCC polls: Ivy visits defeated mayoral candidate Taimur's residence with sweets
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 18: The winning candidate of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election, Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy, visited the house of the defeated mayoral candidate, Taimur Alam Khandaker, with sweets.
She went to Taimur's residence in the city's Masdair area around 5 pm on Monday (January 17) with party leader-activists. The duo spoke to media there. At that time Ivy took blessings from Taimur.
Voting for the NCC election was held on Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. Then the results had started coming. Returning Officer of NCC election Mahfuza Akhter announced the results. In the evening, Ivy's victory was in sight, and later at night, the news of her victory came.
The unofficial results of 192 declared centres show that the ruling Awami League nominated Ivy with boat symbol for the post of Narayanganj mayor got one lakh 59 thousand 97 votes. Her nearest rival independent candidate Taimur Alam Khandaker got 92,166 votes for the elephant symbol. Earlier, Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy had won the mayoral post for the first time in 2011 and for the second time in 2016.
