New Market clash: PM takes responsibility of two injured students' treatments
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 20: Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said the government has taken responsibility for the treatment of Mosharraf Hossain and Kanan, who were injured in the clash between Dhaka College students and shopkeepers in Dhaka's New Market and are currently undergoing treatments at Square Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital respectively.
She said this while visiting Musharraf, who is being treated Square Hospital in the capital, on Tuesday (April 19).
The Education Minister went to Square Hospital at 9.30 pm. At around 10 pm, she inquired about Musharraf's treatment. Musharraf's father Mojibur Rahman was with her at the time. The Education Minister was accompanied by Professor Nehal Ahmed, the Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education.
The Education Minister said, "The Prime Minister has taken responsibility for the advanced treatment of the two students. Now we have all the responsibility to investigate and treat the incident. Teachers, ministries and the government are taking all the responsibilities."
Education Minister Dipu Moni added, "I saw the injured student (Musharraf). The Prime Minister has taken the responsibility of providing him advanced treatment. I was worried. Hope he will get well soon. Advanced treatment for eyes will be provided. There is another (Kanon) at Dhaka Medical, I will take updates about him now."
Calling on the students to return home, the education minister said, "Your Eid holiday is from tomorrow. There was an exam but it could not be conducted. You all go back home. I urge all students to go home for Eid holidays."
