Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 18 January 2024: The new variant of the coronavirus, JN.1, which has spread panic in the neighboring country India, has now been detected in Bangladesh. It is known that JN.1 subtype has been detected in five people's sample tests so far. Director of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR) Professor Dr. Tahmina Shireen confirmed the matter on Thursday, January 18.

He said, so far, the JN.1 subtype has been detected in five people's sample tests. Among those identified, there are currently patients from Dhaka and outside Dhaka. However, none of them have any history of coming from outside the country. They were in the country. Shirin said, they are all fine. There is nothing to worry about.

Meanwhile, the health department has given instructions for quick vaccination as the corona infection is increasing again in the country. In a notification signed by Dr. Mohammad Nizam Uddin, Member Secretary of the Task Force for the Management of Covid-19 Vaccine, it has been stated that in view of the increase in corona infection nationwide, the distribution and delivery of the 1st, 2nd and booster dose (3rd, 4th dose) of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine program. The decision has been taken. The Covid-19 vaccination program should be started soon.

The directive also states that priority will be given to frontline health workers, population aged 60 years and above, population aged 18 years and above with chronic diseases, immunocompromised adults (18 years and above) and pregnant women.
