Dhaka, March 21: Getting 999 service is getting easier. The service seekers could not tell their location if they lost their way in the forest or in the deep sea. In some cases, it took a lot of time to introduce themselves. Among these, the 999 authorities had to deal with some unwanted phone calls. Caller Location Tracker is being launched to solve these problems. Even if someone can't confirm the name-address-location, the authority to provide national service will easily reach the service-seeker.

The irony of the caller location tracker not being active can be explained by two phenomena. In 2021, 17 fishermen were floating in the deep sea for three days. There was no shortage of efforts to fix the trawler's engine. Nothing worked. The was neither food nor a mobile network. Fishermen did not give up even floating uncontrollably in the sea. They raised their sails and tried to come into the mobile network. After that, while floating in the sea, Master Abdur Rahman suddenly saw that the mobile network had arrived. He immediately called the national emergency service 999. But he could not say exactly where they were in the sea.

After receiving an emergency rescue call from 999, the Bangladesh Navy ship 'Anusandhan' rescued 17 fishermen from the middle of the sea approximately five miles by sea from Kutubdia in Cox's Bazar.

Since its inception in 2017, there was no caller location tracker, so when calling 999, the customer had to give his name and address. No one could tell the exact location of an accident on the highway late at night, a shipwreck in the deep sea, or a wandering lost in a forest. In this, 999 authorities had to get speed to provide services.

A caller location tracker is being added to 999 to get rid of these problems. The customer's location and contact will be automatically passed on to 999 concerned. No need to tell the customer's name and address with time. As it will save the customer's time, on the other hand, 999 will be able to provide service in a faster time. Caller location tracker will also come in handy to avoid annoying calls.

According to 999 sources, since the launch of the service on December 12, 2017, till January 31 this year, 4 crore 38 lakh 55 thousand 561 calls have been received. Out of this 11 lakh 37 thousand 782 calls were directly solvable. However, the authorities say that against 1 crore 80 lakh 66 thousand 622 of the total calls, services have been provided in one way or another, which is 41.20 percent of the total calls.
