Dhaka, May 13: Holy Eid-ul-Fitr at midnight. With Eid around the corner, people have been traveling home with unlimited misery for the last few days. But at the moment the picture is completely different. As there is no passenger pressure on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, most of the vehicles are moving with few passengers. The pressure of other local transport including laguna-autorickshaw on the road has eased. As a result, the highways are now much more empty than before.

Short-distance passengers are traveling in autorickshaws-laguna and long-distance passengers are traveling in private cars-microbuses as per their need. Besides, the impression of homebound passengers could not be noticed while walking at different points of the highway.

In the last few days, innumerable people have left Dhaka in violation of the ban in the dark of night. Besides, the workers have also rented cars and left for their destinations as the factories have declared holidays.

However, many people are busy shopping for Eid at the last minute. They are shopping according to hygiene rules and the fear of crowds has not come to the market these days.

The garment factories of Savar and Ashulia industrial areas have been closed for the last two days, but the roads and highways in the region have started to become empty on the last day of Eid-ul-Fitr. That is why there is no traffic jam on the roads.

In this regard, Savar Traffic Police in-charge (TI) Abdus Salam said, the road condition is much better today. There is no traffic jam anywhere. There are members of the police to maintain law and order on the highway. They are monitoring the road situation.
