Dhaka, January 11: No Rohingya refugee has gone back to Myanmar in three and a half years, External Affairs Minister AK Abdul Momen said.

"Not a single Rohingya has returned to Myanmar in three and a half years. If they don't, we are in danger. If there are so many people for a long time, there will be various problems. If a terrorist group is formed among them, it is harmful for us as well as for Myanmar. India, China and Japan understand the problem as well," Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said this while inaugurating the Bangabandhu Adventure Festival at Mari Stadium in Rangamati on Monday morning on the occasion of Mujib Year organized by the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board.

"We are not inhumane to endanger the Rohingya. No one else has come to pick them up. We have given them shelter. There is a good response from the international community about Bhasanchar," he said.

"The current Rohingya camps are temporary," he said. "People were killed in a landslide in Kutupalong. We fear that more could happen next season. So we have decided to relocate 22,000-23,000 families there (Bhasanchar)."

There was no opportunity to work in Kutupalong. However, in Myanmar, they will be able to do the kind of work they used to do in Bhasanchar, including fishing and farming. He also said that the possibility of terrorism is less.

Criticizing the international community, he said, "At first we took 1,642 people to Bhasanchar. But it took a long time. Because the international organizations did not want to go there. They issued Bhasanchar as floating. But we decided to take them to Bhasanchar for good."

"We want to have faith in India. The day they get the vaccine, we will get the vaccine," he said about the coronavirus vaccine.

Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Nobo Bikram Kishore Tripura presided over the meeting. Also present were Dipankar Talukder MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food Ministry, Md. Iftekur Rahman, Regional Commander, Nurul Islam Nizami, Vice Chairman of the Board, AKM Mamunur Rashid, Deputy Commissioner and Mir Moddasser Hossain.
