Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Nov 17: General Secretary of Awami League and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expects media coverage for the development of the government.

General Secretary of Awami League expressed this expectation in an exchange meeting with prominent media persons organized by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at Samson H Chowdhury Hall of Dhaka Club on Wednesday (November 16) evening.

He said, "I can see that all the important people of Bangladesh media have come today. I thank you all, thank you. You want the coverage you deserve, nothing more. Give us what we have."

He said, "We don't even say that BNP should not be given coverage. Give them too."

General Secretary of Awami League said, we admit that we have mistakes. But we are the only party that practices democracy. Despite the mistakes, we are with the mainstream.

The bridge minister said, who created militancy today? Shaykh Abdur Rahman who created? Forgot? Openly marched in Rajshahi city with weapons. We speak against them. This is the politics of Awami League. There is an alliance against us. We can also have an alliance.

Referring to the lack of democracy in the house of BNP, Kader said, does Fakhrul Sahib remember? When was their party council? In between we have two. Another one has arrived. Awami League does not hold any counter programs of BNP. Their district conferences are going on ahead of the central conference. In many cases, Awami League-BNP events are held in the same district. Awami League is not doing anything by 'targeting' BNP.

Among others, Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Awami League presidium member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman and various media editors were present on the occasion.
