Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 24: In the wake of rising infections of coronavirus, including cases of its new variant Omicron, Bangladesh government has issued new guidelines for public-private offices. From today (Monday, January 24), offices will run with half of their manpower till February 6.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday (January 23).

It said that in view of the increasing cases of Covid-19, in continuation of the previous decision, restrictions were imposed on the overall activities/movement by adding three new conditions from January 24 to February 6.

1. All government/semi-government/autonomous/private offices should be run with half number of officers/employees following health and hygiene norms. Other officers/employees will be stationed at their place of work and will complete the official activities virtually (e-documents, e-tendering, e-mail, SMS, WhatsApp and other mediums).

2. The Bangladesh Supreme Court will issue necessary directions to the courts.

3. Bangladesh Bank and Financial Institutions Department will provide necessary instructions regarding banks/insurance and financial institutions.

The government has imposed 11 restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus since January 13. As, there has been no effect on the rising Covid cases, government has closed the educational institutes and imposed six new instructions since last Friday (January 21). The directive further states that not more than 100 people can attend state, social, political, religious gatherings and ceremonies. In all these cases, those who will join must have a Covid vaccination certificate or a RT-PCR negative test report for test conducted within 24 hours.
