Dhaka, Nov 13: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said that online voting system will be considered in Bangladesh if it is implemented in neighboring India.

Movements and protests are going on all over the country focusing on the next 12th national election. In such a situation, the Election Commission (EC) has launched the online nomination process. In this context, a question has come to the Election Commission that when online voting will be introduced to avoid conflict in polling stations.

On Sunday, representatives of political parties asked questions about online voting at the inauguration ceremony of the online nomination submission system and smart election management app at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka's Agargaon. In response CEC said, online voting; Voting at home - this has not happened anywhere in the world yet. But the Chief Election Commissioner of India told me during the interview that they are trying it. I believe it will be implemented in India. If implemented in India then we can also say whether we can do it or not. But before that we cannot give any assurance as to when the online voting system will be launched.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has launched the Smart Election Management App before announcing the upcoming 12th National Assembly election schedule. The EC said the app will help prevent violations of electoral code of conduct, showdowns while submitting nominations, preventing opponents from submitting nominations and election-centric violence.
