Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 30 September 2023: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said that the opinion will be given tomorrow, Sunday 1 October, regarding the application of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to be taken abroad for better treatment. Anisul Huq gave this information to reporters on Saturday. Earlier this application was made on September 25.

Meanwhile, in an interview on Voice of America, the Prime Minister said, Khaleda Zia will have to go to jail again to get permission for treatment abroad.

The Prime Minister and the Attorney General said that Khaleda Zia should go to jail if she applies to go abroad, what do you say about this? In response to a question from the journalists, the Law Minister said, "I don't want to say anything about the application today. The ministry will be informed about it on Sunday. I will tell you what will be decided there, not today."

According to the rules, if any application is made regarding the convicts, it has to be done in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Therefore, as per the law, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sent it to the Ministry of Law for legal opinion.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia's younger brother Shamim Iskandar applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 25, seeking the permanent release and treatment abroad. The Home Ministry sent the application to the Law Ministry for its opinion.

On the same day, Law Minister Anisul Haque said in response to reporters' questions at the secretariat that there is nothing the government can do about sending BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for better treatment from the existing position of the law. He was granted conditional discharge under section 401 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure with a conditional suspension of his sentence. It is the greatness of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Now if there is any change in the law then the conditional release given to Khaleda Zia must be canceled first. After canceling and going back to previous status, another consideration can be given.

Earlier, Attorney General Abu Mohammad (AM) Amin Uddin told reporters that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia should apply to go abroad after going to jail.

If they want to get advanced treatment abroad, they have to apply again. Then the previous order will be cancelled. She (Khaleda Zia) will not be able to stay out if the order is revoked.
