Dhaka, April 3: Awami League has given organizational instructions to party MPs and activists including ministers not to engage in any illegal interference in the upcoming upazila parishad elections and not to destroy the neutrality of elections.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader informed about this directive in a statement read to the media on Tuesday.

He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her determination to give full cooperation to the Election Commission in conducting the elections impartially in a fair and peaceful environment. In the upcoming Upazila Parishad elections, there will be a clear reflection of people's opinion and voters will cast their votes smoothly.

Obaidul Quader said, "Organizational instructions are being given to Awami League party MPs and activists including ministers to not be involved in any kind of illegal interference in the election and activities to destroy the neutrality of the election."

He said that the Election Commission has already announced the schedule of Upazila Parishad elections in two phases and the elections of Upazila Parishads will be held in phases. This election will also be held impartially in a fair and peaceful atmosphere. Ministers-MPs will not have any chance to interfere here.

General Secretary of Awami League said that the administration engaged in conducting the election, including the law and order forces, will maintain hundred percent neutrality. Legal action will be taken against any illegal interference. Although Awami League leaders and activists participated in this election, party symbols are not being allocated.

Obaidul Quader said that on January 7, 2024, the 12th National Assembly elections were held impartially in a peaceful environment. This election is a milestone in Bangladesh's democratic journey. There was a multi-pronged conspiracy to derail the election. Despite those obstacles, voters came to the polls and the elections clearly reflected public opinion.
