Over 2.72 crore people vaccinated against coronavirus across Bangladesh

Dhaka, September 3: In between Wednesday and Thursday, 3,50,277 people were vaccinated against the coronavirus across the country. Among them, 1,99,025 people received the first dose, while 1,51,252 people were administred the second dose of the jab.

So far, a total of 2,72,35,548 people- 1,88,75,917 men and 83,59,631 women- have been vaccinated in Bangladesh.

The information was given in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The country started vaccinating against the Covid-19 disease on January 27 with the Covishield vaccine- the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus jab marketed and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. Currently, Bangladesh has allowed the injection of Moderna, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines as well.

According to the DGHS, 3,85,73,349 people have registered for the vaccine till 5:30 pm on Thursday. Among them, 3,80,77,118 people have registered with the NID and 4,96,231 people with the help of passport.
