Oxford-AstraZeneca: Second dose of vaccination still ongoing in the country

Dhaka, June 16: Even though the health department officials announced a few weeks ago that stocks of the second dose of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine, produced by the Serum Institute of India, were running out, 3,973 people across the country were administered the second dose of the said vaccine on Tuesday (June 16).

Among those vaccinated were 2,668 males and 1,309 females.

With Tuesday figures, the second dose of coronavirus vaccination toll in the country rose to 42,57,499. So far, 27,19,649 males and 15,37,850 females have been administered the second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, according to a press release signed by the Director (MIS) of the Department of Health, Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman.

Meanwhile, the first dose of corona vaccination has been suspended since April 25.

According to official figures, 58,20,015 people- 36,09,065 males and 22,10,950 females- have taken the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

A total of 72,48,829 people have registered to get the vaccine so far.

Division wise, 1,689 people in Dhaka division, 1,985 people in Chittagong division, 10 people each in Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, 30 people in Rangpur division, 229 people in Barisal division and 20 people in Sylhet division were administered the vaccine on Tuesday. No one from Mymensingh division took the jab in 24 hours, in between Monday and Tuesday.
