Padma Bridge project to get two-year extension

Dhaka, February 9: The bridge department has applied to extend the duration of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge construction project by two years. Last Thursday (February 4), they applied for an extension in the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED). 

IMED Secretary Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty said, "We have applied for an extension of two years for the Padma Bridge project. It is being tested. I hope the decision on whether to extend the term will come this week."

The bridge department's application for extension said, "The Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project will expire on June 30. At present, the actual work of this project is 83 percent complete. In order to complete the remaining actual work, it is necessary to extend the period till June 2023 without increasing the cost and with one year defect notification period.

In this situation, as per the proposal of the director of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project, the proposal to extend the duration of the project till June 30, 2023 without increasing the cost was sent to take further necessary steps.
