Dhaka, September 29: The Padma Bridge will be opened to traffic before June next year (2022).

Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader made the remarks while (virtually) taking part in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 75th birthday celebrations at Padma Bank in Mulfatganj, Naria on Tuesday morning.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's contribution- the Padma Bridge is now visible. The Padma Bridge is no longer a dream, a visible reality.

Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim presided over the function.

It was attended by Shariatpur-3 MP Nahim Razzak, Shariatpur District Council Chairman and District Awami League President Sabedur Rahman Khoka Sikder, Shariatpur Press Club President and District Awami League General Secretary Anol Kumar Dey, Deputy Commissioner Md. Parvez Hasan, Police Super SM Ashrafuzzaman and others.

Thousands of Imams of Naria Upazila and Sakhipur Police Station participated in the Milad, Doa and Quran Sharif distribution program organized on the occasion of the Prime Minister's birthday. Besides, 50 fishermen's boats, which were rescued from the wreckage, joined the birthday celebrations at Padma bank of Mulfatganj.
