Dhaka, Nov 24: The upcoming 12th National Assembly election will be held using ballot. However, Election Commissioner (EC) Brigadier General (retired) Md. Ahsan Habib Khan has commented that there will be no transparency in the ballot like the Electric Voting Machine (EVM).

He said, in this case, candidates' agents will work with officials at the center to ensure transparency. They will see to it that one cannot vote for the other. Only then there will be no complaints from candidates or anyone.

He said these things in an exchange meeting with election officials of Kushtia, Magura, Chuadanga, Meherpur and Jhenaidah on the occasion of the 12th National Assembly elections at the Jhenaidah District Commissioner's conference room on Thursday.

EC Habib Khan also said, yet EVMs were symbols of transparency. I have confidence. But some political party members don't want it, they say it's a magic box. However, there were CCTV cameras monitoring and the voter could vote for the symbol of his choice by pressing the button. But there will be no concession here either. Elections will be like elections.

He said that action will be taken against him if there is any complaint in field level administration. There will be no sudden changes in the field administration. Because the administration knows all the roads, centers, places, environment of the district. Therefore, if specific complaints are received and the investigation is found to be true, then only the reformation and legal action.

The Election Commissioner said that there is an election management manual where all the issues including the code of conduct are recorded. It should be done with 100 percent observance. In this case the returning officer is the only captain. He will control everything. We have changed our laws. A lot of talk shows come with sweet talk. That we have axed in our feet. We have protected you by keeping the provisions of jail and fine through every law. We have made a policy so that media workers can go inside, take pictures, live outside.
