GM Quader Parliament witnessing one-sided talk: GM Quader
Dhaka, Feb 10: Opposition leader and Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has commented that there has been one-sided talks in the 12th National Parliament due to the small number of opposition parties.
He said that the Parliament is running in a normal manner. Since we are less in number of opposition parties in parliament. Most of the talks are being done on behalf of the government. Parliament works better if heated. Parliament is truly effective and vibrant only if both parties speak equally. That hasn't happened yet.
GM Quader said these in response to reporters' questions at his residence Skyview in Senpara after coming to Rangpur on a three-day visit on Friday afternoon.
When asked about becoming a minister, GM Quader said that it is not normal to become a minister if it is an opposition party. If there is a national government there is no opposition. The cabinet is made from all parties. Then you cannot role play as opposition party. Because if you are an opposition party, you have to be a force against the government, if you are a minister, then you have become a part of the government, then there is nothing to be an opposition party.
He also said that the opposition party in the parliament will ensure the accountability of the government. And the government means the entire cabinet together, the government is the cabinet. If we want to make him accountable, if we want to point out his faults, then it is not possible for me to be a member of the cabinet. We will manage the country together. For a few days, there is a crisis in many countries. But we did not get any such offer. If any such offer comes in, we will take everything into account and make a decision.
