Parliamentary committee against anti-liberation forces carrying out Hajj activities

Dhaka, May 13: The parliamentary committee has recommended not to involve the anti-liberation forces in the upcoming Hajj activities. The committee also recommended speedy completion of model mosques under construction across the country.

The recommendation was made at the 11th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Religious Affairs held at the Parliament House on Thursday (May 12). After the meeting, committee chairman Hafeez Ruhul Amin Madani told reporters.

Thursday's meeting confirmed the minutes of the previous (10th) meeting and discussed in detail the progress made in implementing the decisions taken at that meeting.

The committee discussed the need to expedite the completion of model mosques under construction across the country during the tenure of the present government and to bring air fares to a tolerable level for travel between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.

In addition, there was a detailed discussion on the issue of not involving the anti-liberation forces in the upcoming Hajj activities and the nationalization of ibtedayi madrasas across the country.

The meeting also discussed in detail the latest progress of the upcoming Hajj 2022.

It was informed at the meeting that a bilateral Hajj agreement for the year 1443 AH was signed between the Government of Bangladesh and the Royal Saudi Government on March 24. According to the agreement, the number of government-managed pilgrims is four thousand. Besides, the number of privately managed pilgrims is 53,585. The meeting was also informed that pre-arrival immigration of Hajj pilgrims wishing to travel to Saudi Arabia via Dhaka would be completed in Dhaka.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including the Additional Secretary.
