Dhaka, October 18: The Prime Minister has approved the cancellation of the Class V Completion (PEC) and Madrasa Education Completion (Ibtedayi) examinations this year. It was sent to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education with approval on Sunday (October 17) afternoon. As a result, PEC-Ibtedai examination is not being conducted this year. It is learned that the matter may be officially announced by the concerned ministry this week.

According to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, after the closure of educational institutions for the last one and a half years due to the Corona situation, direct class teaching activities have been started. However, even though the class activities started, it was not possible to complete the syllabus of the students. A short syllabus has been taught for the last three months. Fifth grade students are taking classes on three subjects every day for six days. Although the PEC and ibtedayi examinations start in November every year, no such preparation has been done before this year. Therefore, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education sent a proposal to the Prime Minister on October 7 to cancel the final examination of the fifth class this year. The Prime Minister has agreed to this proposal.

An official of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said on Sunday that the proposal sent to the Prime Minister to cancel the final examination of the fifth class has been approved. It was sent to the ministry from the PM's office on Sunday afternoon. State Minister Md. Zakir Hossain will officially inform the media about this. He said a press conference on the issue could be held this week.

Hossain had said earlier, "From the beginning we were in favor of taking the test. But with the cancellation of the eighth class JSC-JDC examination, it has become difficult to take the fifth class PEC and ibtedayi examination at present."

Recently, the Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni canceled this year's JSC-JDC examination and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education also moved away from the idea of taking the board examination. It is learned that the idea of giving certificates to the fifth class students with annual or temporary examinations is going on.
