Pedestrian killed while crossing road in Dhaka
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 3: A pedestrian, identified as Mohammad Omar Farooq (46), was killed after being hit by a speeding car while crossing the road at Jatrabari area in the capital.
The accident took place under a flyover in Sayedabad on Wednesday (March 2) night. He was later rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital. He died at around 1.30 am while undergoing treatment there.
The deceased, Omar Farooq, was the son of Abdul Khaleq of Pakundia police station area in Kishoreganj.
Jatrabari police sub-inspector (SI) Saddam Hussein said a man was found in a critical condition from under the flyover in Jatrabari. When he was taken to the emergency department of DMC Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The SI said people in the area reported that he was hit by a speeding car while crossing the road under the flyover.
He said, "We are trying to identify the car by examining CCTV footage. The body has been kept in the morgue of DMC for autopsy."
