Snatched Phone Found Planning Minister's mobile phone recovered, five arrested
Dhaka, July 19: Police have finally recovered the snatched mobile phone of Planning Minister MA Mannan. The phone was snatched from Vijay Sarani junction in the capital on the evening of May 30. Law enforcement officers have also arrested five people, including the alleged snatcher.
Iftekhairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Department, made the announcement on Monday (July 19th). He said the Ramna division police had recovered the snatched iPhone of Planning Minister MA Mannan.
A case was also registered at Kafrul police station on June 1 in connection with the robbery. Police said the phone was snatched and he changed hands several times and went to a shop in Hatirpul. A customer from that shop bought the phone for Tk 30,000-35,000, police said. However, the buyer could not be found. The phone could not be recovered as the person could not be traced.
It took more than a month and a half to recover the snatched mobile phone of Planning Minister MA Mannan from Vijay Sarani junction in the capital. The police found the minister's phone by chance while investigating another case. At the same time 5 members of the gang were arrested.
Police say the phone changed hands four times after the robbery. In the last step, when the person who got the mobile phone realized that it is the minister's phone, and decided against selling the device.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division Md. Sajjadur Rahman said a case was filed at Dhanmondi Police Station on July 12, where it was alleged that two unidentified persons on a rickshaw pulled his vanity bag while he was riding a rickshaw at around 5.15 pm that day. .
After the case was filed, the police collected CCTV footage of the incident and arrested Sagir and Sumon Mia. Zakir was arrested on the basis of information provided by Sagir and Sumon. According to Zakir, a man named Arif was arrested. The mobile phone of the person who filed the case at Dhanmondi police station on July 12 was recovered from Arif.
Arif specializes in the use of technology. He can unlock any mobile through the software and make it usable.
Sajjadur Rahman said that the police got the picture of the snatched iPhone of the planning minister on the laptop belonging to Arif. After questioning Arif, the police came to know that the phone belonged to a person named Jibon. After that, the minister's phone was recovered from Jibon. He and Arif knew it was the minister's phone and that's why Jibon kept the phone with him without selling it.
