Sheikh Hasina PM asks people to be conscious about GI
Dhaka, February 11, 2024: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the concerned parties to take action to get the certificate of recognition of GI products.
The Prime Minister gave this order at the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's office on Sunday (February 11).
The Prime Minister presided over the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain informed this information in the press briefing.
When asked if the Prime Minister gave any instructions outside the agenda, the Cabinet Secretary said that one instruction he gave was that the GI products were discussed. There he asked the concerned to take action.
She urged everyone to take initiative to make the products that we have.
SHe said three product journals have been published. Copies of them have been given to the Prime Minister. Certificates of recognition of Saree of Tangail, Rasgolla of Gopalganj and Amrit Sagar of Narsingdi as GI products have been handed over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Mahbub Hossain said that there has been a discussion about giving the Tangail saree certificate as a GI product by the Indian government, if there is such a conflict, there is an international organization. If there are any such, we are directed to present them there.
