Dhaka, Oct 20: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina harshly criticized BNP for keeping silent against Israel's "heinous attacks" on "innocent" Palestinians, saying repeated attacks on Palestine cannot be tolerated anymore.

She said, "I see some (BNP) are silent. Because those who are causing such incidents are unhappy again. So those who are oppressed do not have the courage to speak. And they protested and called for resignation. This is the most unfortunate thing."

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this in a speech at Sarak Bhawan in Tejgaon of the capital on Thursday.

She said, "We are against war, we want peace. Because we have seen the horrors of war. We condemn the way Israel attacks Palestine, especially hospitals and kills children, women and people. We are talking about ending this war quickly. And let the Palestinians get their land back. They must return the lands that have been occupied."

Sheikh Hasina said that people and children were killed by bombs, the sight of bloody children cannot be tolerated. That is why next Friday I request everyone to pray and pray in every mosque and other religious institutions of the country after Jummah. Because not only Muslims, but also other religions are among the casualties. And on Saturday we declared mourning day, on that day our national flag will be at half mast. In addition, we will send medicines and dry food to the people including women and children in Palestine who are suffering now and some essential products for children and women. Because with whatever resources we have, we are always on the side of poor people. We will help as much as we can. He also said that the Ministry of Health and his office have given instructions to take measures for this.

Noting that he had a meeting with the ambassadors of the OIC countries and the charge of affairs, she said, "We are all united and are with them to establish the rights of Palestine. Hitting them repeatedly like this is never acceptable, we cannot accept it."
