Dhaka, 22 October 2020: Inspired by the spirit of the Liberation War, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for building of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's hunger-poverty-free and happy-prosperous golden Bangladesh by keeping the bonds of communal harmony intact.

She made the call in a message on the occasion of Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community in Bangladesh, on Wednesday (October 21) and wished all Hindus of the country on the occasion.

Similarly, the Prime Minister wished peace, welfare and prosperity to all citizens, including Hindus.

The five-day Durga Puja of the traditional Hindu community is starting from October 22.

The Prime Minister called upon all to celebrate the Durga Puja by maintaining social distance and following the rules of health.

Due to Covid-19, this time the festival-related issues are being avoided and limited to just worship.

On the seventh day, special prayers will be held for the normal life of the people of the world free from the deadly virus.

Considering the corona infection situation, Kumari Puja will not be celebrated in any mandapa in Dhaka this year.

Following the instructions, there will be no cultural program in this puja.

Authorities have been instructed to take help of Facebook Live during the Anjali (offerings).

No more than 25 to 50 people can come to the places where Anjali will be held directly.

There are instructions to close the puja mandapa by 9 pm after the evening aarti.

The distribution of prasad and the procession of Vijaya Dashmi have been banned before Durga Puja so as not to break the hygiene rules due to public gatherings.

Also, no songs other than devotional music should be played, no mic or PA set should be used, no visitors should be allowed in the puja mandapa 'too long' and visitors should be discouraged from entering after evening break .

Members of the police, Ansar, RAB and other law enforcement agencies will be responsible for the security of every puja mandapa in the country, including the capital Dhaka.

In addition to the police and the RAB, volunteer forces will be on duty in almost every mandapa.
