PM Hasina directs leaders, party workers to take field to prevent activities of communal evil forces

Dhaka, October 19: Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the party leaders and workers to take to the field to prevent the attacks and looting on the minorities in Comilla.

The Awami League will hold a reconciliation rally and peace procession in front of the Bangabandhu Avenue central office in the capital on Tuesday (October 19) at 11:00 am on the instructions of the party president. Besides, the party will hold the same program all over the country in the afternoon.

Under the program, Awami League and allied organizations will organize 'harmony rallies and peace processions' in all metros, districts and upazilas of the country. The party's central leaders also visited various areas affected by the communal attacks.

The program was announced by General Secretary Obaidul Quader at an emergency meeting at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's political office in Dhanmondi on Monday (October 18) evening. The party president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina was also involved in the video conference. She gave different directions to the leaders.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hasina directed the leaders and activists of Awami League at all levels to resist the activities of communal evil forces in the country and called upon the people to uphold the thousand-year-old tradition of communal harmony in Bangladesh at any cost.

She said, "At a time when Bangladesh has been established as a dignified state in the world, a marked group is deliberately trying to create communal violence in the country. The government has identified the conspirators. Many have already been arrested and the process of bringing the rest under the law is underway."

The Prime Minister said the government was keeping a close watch on the situation and was taking necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of such terrorist incidents.

Awami League presidium member Abdur Razzak, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Joint-General Secretary Hasan Mahmud, A. F. M. Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain, Forest and Environment Secretary Delwar Hossain, Office Secretary Biplob Barua, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan, Members of the Central Executive Parliament Anwar Hossain, Syed Abdul Awal Shamim and others were present at the meeting.
