Dhaka, Feb 24: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed the hope that friendly relations between India and Bangladesh will be eternal.

She said, "I want the people of my country to get justice. Like us, they should not have to suffer due to injustice. Let them get justice and ensure the democratic rights and economic-social and cultural rights of the people of the country. May Bangladesh move forward and may India-Bangladesh friendship be eternal.”

PM said this on Saturday (February 24) morning at the closing ceremony of the two-day international conference on "South Asian Constitutional Courts in the Twenty-First Century: Lessons from Bangladesh and India" organized at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

Referring to Indian guests as "lucky", Prime Minister Hasina said, "What did we see when India-Pakistan emerged as two countries side by side? Democracy continues in India.”

Sheikh Hasina said, "The socio-economic development of the country is happening today, it has become possible because the democratic trend continues and there is a stable environment. Today it is a proven fact that justice in people's lives, socio-economic development, this is the only way to fulfill the basic needs of people and the country can move forward on the path of development."

Sheikh Hasina mentioned that the Awami League government has made the Judiciary and the Election Commission independent.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Indian guests for visiting the memorial museum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib.
