PM Hasina reviews flood situation in Sylhet, Netrokona and Sunamganj

Dhaka, June 21: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today observed the flood situation in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona and adjoining areas. At that moment, the helicopter carrying her started flying in low fly mode.

Hasina later landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport and went to Sylhet Circuit House, where she met the divisional and district administration and local Awami League leaders.

Earlier, the authorities called on the army to assist the civilian administration in evacuating flood victims, especially in the northeastern part of Sylhet, and helping the vulnerable. Navy and air force units have also been called.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, the government has allocated Tk 22.25 million in cash, 400 metric tonnes of rice and 41,000 packets of dry and other food items as immediate humanitarian assistance to the deputy commissioners of the flood-hit districts from June 15 to 18.
