PM Hasina takes first Metrorail ride, reaches Uttara from Agargaon in 17 minutes

Dhaka, December 29: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Agargaon from Uttara in just 17 minutes by riding the dream metro rail. More than two hundred passengers were accompanying the Prime Minister in this much-awaited flying train. In addition to Prime Minister's younger sister Sheikh Rehana, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, there were various government officials and people from various professions.

The metro train carrying the Prime Minister started its journey from Uttara Uttar station at 1.54 pm on Wednesday (December 28) and reached Agargaon station at 2.11 pm. Maryam Afiza was the driver of the metro rail that carried the Prime Minister and her entourage on this route of about 12 km.

10 family members including his younger sister Sheikh Rehana, valiant freedom fighters, school college and madrasa students, mosque imams, garment workers, rickshaw drivers, vegetable sellers, representatives of small ethnic groups, businessmen and important people of the government became the traveling companions of the Prime Minister on the first journey.

Besides, the scheduled passengers of the first train included Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, 25 Ministers including Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, 19 State Ministers, three Deputy Ministers, six advisors to the Prime Minister, 9 members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, Dhaka Metropolitan. Members of Parliament of 12 constituencies, secretaries and mayors of two city corporations of Dhaka.

Fourteen members of the presidium of Awami League were invited to ride the metro rail on the first journey. The total number of passengers on the inaugural journey of the Metrorail was 220.

Earlier, the Prime Minister officially started the metro rail movement from Diabari (North) station of the capital at around 1:40 PM. She waved the green flag and ushered in the official journey of Bangladesh's first metro rail. The driver of the first train was Asma Akhtar.

After inaugurating the Metrorail in the morning, the Prime Minister went to the Uttara Uttar station of the Metrorail at 1.30 pm and took part in the photo session. Later, the Prime Minister planted trees there and participated in prayers and prayers. After paying the money, he booked the metro rail ticket. Meanwhile, Sheikh Rehana also bought tickets. Later, more than two hundred traveling companions bought tickets one by one.
