President-Prime Minister PM meets President in Parliament
Dhaka, January 19: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on President Md. Abdul Hamid. After the parliamentary session on Monday evening, the Prime Minister went to the President's Chamber in the Parliament House.
Later, Md. Joynal Abedin, Press Secretary to the President, said that during the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed the President on various steps taken by the government to combat coronavirus. He also informed about the various initiatives taken by the government to continue the overall economic activities.
During the meeting, the President lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's courageous steps in tackling the epidemic, the press secretary said. He hoped that the trend of development of the country would continue under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Later, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury paid a courtesy call on the President.
The Speaker thanked the President for addressing the Parliament at this time.
The Speaker briefed the President on various activities of Parliament. On Monday, President Abdul Hamid addressed the first session of parliament as per the provisions of the constitution.
